The IPL has always been a paradise for the batsman and a complete nightmare and graveyard for the bowlers. Especially from the last two seasons where 200 runs have not been a rare incident but a common view. The 2024 TATA IPL has taken it to next level where in just half season so many batting records have been put into dust. Amidst all this, the match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi capitals saw an opposite side giving some respite to the bowlers and their performance.
After this, followed some outstanding bowling by the the Delhi Capitals bowlers as they kept on picking wickets regularly without giving the batsman the time to free their arms and score runs. The tight bowling made the Gujarat Titans batsman do something different to score runs which they didn't succeed as they lost wickets.
Ishant Sharma grabbed two wickets, Mukesh Kumar got a wicket to his name and the run out of Sai Sudarshan ensured the Gujarat Titans batsman not to take any advantage of the Powerplay field restrictions as GT ended their Powerplay with a low 30 runs and losing 4 crucial wickets which included the likes of Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha, Sai Sudarshan and the powerhouse batter David Miller.
Any batting team with more than 3 wickets in the powerplay is for sure going to face the heat and pressure of scoring runs and to make the score board ticking. The same was seen in the case of Gujarat Titans batsman as well. The initial 4 wickets in the powerplay which had their core batsman had hurt them to the core that they failed to reassemble and make any good partnerships further.
The introduction of spin in this tricky Ahmedabad wicket brought further trouble for the Gujarat Titans batters. Kuldeep Yadav the left-arm wrist spinner got a heavy grip which turned and bounced in this wicket making the life more miserable for the batters. A surprise move by Rishabh Pant to bring the South African brute player Tristan Stubbs typically known for his batting to bowl off-spin in this wicket worked wonders.
Tristan Stubbs first dismissed Abhinav Manohar getting stumped to Rishabh Pant after being hit for a boundary the previous ball. Then he dismissed Shahrukh Khan for a golden duck who had been brought as an Impact Player as GT had already lost half of their side for less than 50 runs. The Impact Player failed to create an impact as GT lost their 6th wicket for just 48 runs.
The Afghan superstar Rashid Khan showed some fight as he top scored for the Gujarat Titans with 31 runs off 24 balls. On the other end wickets fell and GT were bundled up for just 89 runs setting a target of 90 for the Delhi Capitals.

Delhi Capitals Chase
The pressure on the Delhi Capitals batsman was an all-time low as they needed just 90 in their 20 overs. The Capitals had an eye on the Net Run Rate which would drastically help them to increase it which might come handy in future as the tournament progresses with IPL being unpredictable as ever if they start and end the powerplay on a high, they can
chase the target and achieve a higher Net Run Rate, which could be beneficial
for their standing in the tournament.
As expected the Delhi Capitals started their chase with a bang as the Australian Young sensation Jake Fraser McGurk started his innings with a six just like how he announced his IPL debut in his previous match where also he started his innings with a 6. McGurk started the chase on a high note with his quick fire 20 in just 10 balls where he was eventually dismissed by Spencer Johnson.
McGurk's entertaining knock ensure DC were more than 10 runs per over in the first two overs. Prithvi Shaw's innings came to an
abrupt end after he hit a boundary and was dismissed by Warrier on the next
ball. The DC batters even though they were scoring in a hurry they were losing wickets as well on the other end. It was a roller coaster of a chase for the Delhi Capitals as they were facing both highs and lows in the chase look to finish the match in a hurry.
Quickfire cameos by Abishek Porel, Shai Hope and Rishabh Pant ensured the Delhi Capitals finish the chase in just 8.5 overs even though they lost 4 wickets in the process. The Delhi Capitals comfortably won the clash by 6 wickets and moved up the points table to 6th position surpassing the Net Run Rates of Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians.
This encounter though termed 'boring' by the viewers gave some small respite to the bowlers amidst the onslaught batting display where the bowlers were hammered and treated with fours and sixes without any sign of help from the pitch or the conditions.
The next encounter will be again a bottom of the table clash between the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians where both the teams will be hoping to make a comeback and climb further up the points table. Both the teams will be facing each other with loses in their previous encounters. It will be a battle between the Mumbai Indians batting line up vs the Punjab Kings bowling attack in Mullanpur, Mohali. The viewers will be hoping for another great game of T20 in the TATA IPL 2024.
